Area golfers encouraged to register for second annual amenity-rich event at National Historic landmark.
WHAT: The American Cancer Society will host its second annual Greenbrier Invitational at The Greenbrier Resort, a National Historic landmark in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Mylan is the presenting sponsor of the event in memory of Milan “Mike” Puskar, co-founder, namesake, former chairman and CEO of the pharmaceutical company, who passed away from cancer in October 2011.
The 2011 inaugural event was the Society’s top golf event in the nation, raising $300,000 to support the organization’s programs and services for cancer patients and their caregivers, provide education on screening guidelines and the prevention and early detection of cancer, as well as support legislation improving the quality of life for cancer patients.
WHEN: Monday, July 30, 2012
Practice round and dinner reception on Sunday, July 29th
WHERE: The Greenbrier Resort, 300 W. Main St., White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia
WHO: Nearly 100 players are expected to tee off at the Society’s Greenbrier Invitational in the footsteps of legends on famed Old White TPC course, just a few short weeks after the 2012 Greenbrier Classic featuring PGA TOUR players.
The dinner reception on July 29th features an opportunity for players to join Dana Holgerson, West Virginia University football coach, and Bob Huggins, WVU’s basketball coach.
“The Greenbrier Invitational is an opportunity like no others for area golfers to spend a day on the first-class course while supporting the American Cancer Society,” said Kevin Tephabock, the Society’s state vice president of West Virginia. “The commitment of Mylan and our volunteers on the event steering committee makes this a spectacular event that helps us make great progress in the fight against cancer.”
Mylan CEO Heather Bresch said, “Mylan is proud to sponsor the Greenbrier Invitational and support the American Cancer Society in honor of Mike Puskar. As many West Virginians know, Mike’s generosity and community support was legendary. As a company, Mylan always has been committed to supporting the communities and regions in which we operate, and this is another great opportunity to do just that.”

About the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.5 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about us or to get help, call us any time, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org. For cancer news in your community, visit sacancernews.org.
